I am an Associate within Arup’s Specialist Structural Mechanical (SSM) team. I have completed and project managed both complex and routine projects for various prestigious clients within diverse engineering disciplines. My work is focused engineering simulations using numerical analysis (or Finite Element Analysis) applied to a broad range of applications including infrastructure, buildings and large storage tanks, amongst many others. Considering both new designs and life extension.I am a technical authority on the life assessment and life extension of bridge decks, a key aspect of Arup's bridge business and the sustainable use of infrastructure. My development of non-linear concrete analysis techniques has enabled continued use of structures condemned by conventional code design methods.Further specialist skills include buckling, staged construction, structural dynamics, blast assessment, seismic assessment, and dynamic fluid soil-structure interaction. I have extensive working experience of both LS-DYNA and NASTRAN finite element software.I previously worked for over 11 years in a finite element (FE) analysis consultancy based in the LUSAS engineering software company. I was exposed to a wide variety of engineering disciplines and developed an extremely flexible approach in order adapt to different situations. The job included a number of secondments both in the UK and abroad, including four months in Seoul, South Korea, working on an LNG tank analysis technology transfer.
