Doctoral ResearcherMichigan Technological University Aug 2014 - Mar 2019Houghton, Mi, Us■ Independently designed and formulated efficient, cost effective, thermo-stable bacteriophage virus-like particle based preventive candidate vaccines against Zika Virus (ZIKV) and Chikungunya Virus (CHIKV), using molecular biology, SDS PAGE and viral assays, leading to two research grants of $14,250 and $6000, 2 first author peer reviewed publications featured in media and 2 first author manuscripts in preparation.■ Designed and developed high purity and low cost whole ZIKV and CHIKV envelope peptides and antibodies by affinity purification, to be used for drug discovery and vaccine formulations. This resulted in collaborations and expertise of working in Biosafety Levels: BSL-2 as well as BSL-3 environment by utilizing extensive mammalian cell culture, immunoblotting, biochemical assays, electron & fluorescence microscopy. ■ Demonstrated strong problem solving and analytical skills as well as creative thinking by pioneering a hypothesis about generation of a new platform for vaccine development using thermophilic bacteria, thereby reduced the overall cost of manufacturing and boosted the yield of the drug/vaccines. ■ Partnered in development of a multi-epitope L2 bacteriophage VLPs oral drug to enhance protection against Oral Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Infections in HIV patients, employing Pseudovirus production in mammalian cancer cell culture and testing drug/adjuvant combination strategies, leading to NIH-R15 grant worth $457,197 and 1 manuscript in review. Cancer biology and vaccine developmentHPV infections are associated with a number of malignancies including cervical cancer, genital warts, as well as oropharyngeal cancers. I am interested in: 1) boosting T-cell responses against HPV viral oncogenes. 2) identifying novel ligands that can be used for targeted delivery of cargos to HPV-associated cancer cells. -
