I advise investors on oil mining gas and energy industry with regards to WB/ADB safeguards policies, IFC performance standards and the Equator Principles for large projects. Clients include BP Berau and Tangguh, SAE Geothermal, G resources gold mining, PT Freeport Indonesia, Vale nickel mining, Sarulla Geothermal, INPEX , Bosowa Cement etc.

The Compliance Review Panel (CRP) at Asian Development Bank in Manila is an independent body appointed by the ADB Boards of Directors. Its mandate is to investigate/review alleged non compliance of ADB policy and procedures in project preparation and implementation. During my tenure I investigated cases in Srilanka, Indonesia, People Republic of China, Kyrgyz, Cambodia, the Philippines and India; consulted with stakeholders in those countries and in Japan, Uzbekistan, Australia, Afghanistan, USA, Canada, Thailand, etc.

(i) manage the following divisions : tax and legal, corporate communication and governmental affairs, business development, CSR and corporate strategy.(ii) develop company policies for SHE for all employees and divisions to minimize environmental impact and industrial accidents and optimize health of industrial workforce; (iii) direct internal SHE policies to ensure that the Company implements Environmental and Safety Management; Systems that conform to international standards, company and corporate policies.(iv) serve as liaison between FMI headquarter in New Orleans, Jakarta, and Jobsite (West Papua) on SHE issues to provide strategic direction and information to the Government of Indonesia;(v) develop and implement training programs in SHE to improve employees’ skill levels and support Company policies, particularly the Manpower Management Guiding Principles and Commitment to Papuan Employment;

Led a team of senior Bank staff to review for QAG, approx.100 projects at preparation/planning and 80 projects at implementation/supervision; Joined Bank missions for project preparation and supervision (agricultural development, PRSC, natural resources management, and institutional-capacity building in Ethiopia, Cambodia, Ghana, Nigeria, Iran, South Africa, Tunisia, Turkey, and Uganda; involved in GEF project on toxic wastes and persistent organis pollution (POP) and pesticides in South Africa.Involved in safeguard review and clearance in Africa and East Asia and Pacific, occasionally in SAR and ECA; Conducted and supported training on Bank safeguard policies for Bank staff and clients in Washington, D.C, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Cote d’Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Indonesia, Iran, PR of Lao, Thailand, the Philippines (Mindanao), Turkey, Tunis, and Vietnam;

Assisted and helped implementing the sustainable development concept into 30+ projects including mega projects such as Freeport Copper and Gold, Exxon Oil, Newmont Mining, Bali Resort, palm oil estate etc. Helped in drafting and reforming national regulation on environmental by introducing social issues, compliance audit, public consultation and community rights in the legislation. Conducted investigation and due diligence on several “non-compliant” industries and facilitated the adoption of ‘green management’ such as environmental management system (EMS) and CSR. This included mediation and conflict/dispute resolution among project, NGOs and local communities.

The CES is a university-based research and consulting unit. Led 20+ professional team and conducted applied researches on natural resources-environmental economics, ‘sustainable development’ in agriculture, coastal conservation, urban environment, communal waste management and biodiversity conservation in Eastern Indonesia. Developed the CES from ‘scratch’ to a respectable national center in Indonesia by effectively engaging stakeholders and mobilizing resources from the World Bank, ADB, USAID, RTI, Chemonics, CIDA, JICA, FAO, etc. Advised Central Government and Regional Governments in the Eastern part of Indonesia to safeguard sensitive projects.
