I grew up around my dad's shop on Portobello Road, surrounded by the most unique vintage clothes from the 70's and 80's from his business. My Dad and his brothers were true entrepreneurs, creating something out of almost nothing they created a business that laced the rich colourful textile heritage of India into Western fashion - creating a unique fusion of cultures that creativity.The world has changed a huge amount over my lifetime to say the least, global industrialisation and fast fashion were present well before the recent acceleration of e-commerce which acts as a catalyst towards a bleak future:Fast fashion produces 10% of the humans' carbon footprint.10,000 litres of water cultivates ONLY 1kg of raw cotton.35% of microplastics come from clothing.85% of items go to landfill.Inspired by my parents' entrepreneurial drive, I set up Portobello Vintage Market. As we stand, we currently only trade items from my dad's old business online. Getting these incredible vintage items to consumers (without plastic!) not only utilises clothing that is already in the system but also promotes quality over quantity. Creating a strong business that values ethics at the core is how I believe we can support the much needed change to the fashion industry. The experience I have had in this role has been similar to none. I have had huge insight into the management, operations and strategic aspect of running an engineering business. My role included a number of key responsibilities: - Working closely with the MD to support and drive business initiatives and facilitate the implementation of these as business as usual.- Supporting the strategy development, and this led my involvement in the business transformation program to embed the new strategy into the business.- Developing a balance scorecard to enable the board to access KPI data efficiently, rapidly and reliably.- COVID-19 coordination role to ensure effective working from home, supporting the innovation taskforce, generating daily reports and sharing information across the business- Assisting in the business planning process to aggressive timescalesThrough this role I have had to be innovative, confident and resourceful to both upwards manage seniors in the business and to ensure my role is successfully fulfilled.I have been in attendance at board meetings and other confidential sessions which has given me a clear understanding of how a business runs.I have had clear visibility into all aspects of the business, and have also had the opportunity to network and work with inspirational seniors in the business. Through this I have been able to secure my next position in the Digitalisation Strategy.

- Used my vehicle testing experience to support the validation testing for a vehicle's driveability calibration- Implemented previous NVH experience to integrate and calibrate an accelerometer to record longitudinal acceleration- Tested two variants of hybrid light commercial vehicles for their real world emissions on delivery and RDE routes. This was followed by a large amount of data analysis and reporting for the customer.

- Carried out full NVH benchmark of two premium vehicles- NVH analysis of the transient behaviour of a range extender in the 2018MY BMW i3- Developed a database of acoustic and vibration data to aid with target setting- Carried out Sound Intensity measurements of an e-machine to mitigate background noise and compared the results to conventional sound pressure

- Knowledge of NVH principals and utilising Siemens LMS software and hardware to analyse and develop vehicle refinement- Responsible for preparing, testing, reporting and presenting small scale projects such as full vehicle modal analysis, transmission end of line rig testing and vehicle track measurements - Part of a Powertrain NVH program delivery team working at an OEM to investigate issues and validate countermeasures to ensure development gateways are met- Problem solving of NVH issues externally for OEMs within Ricardo Consultancy - Electric vehicle benchmarking for target setting exercise- Few weeks of experience in other functions of Ricardo including Bill of Materials management for a vehicle design and development program

Vehicle Dynamics is an area of race engineering that determines how competitive your car is compared to the other cars on the grid. It is an area that we have recently put a huge amount of resources into. This year we will be focusing on the bringing in systems that will allow achieve greater gains in the future and looks at performance analysis.Vehicle Test RigTo create a sensor kit that will go on to the car for test sessions which will enable us to quantitatively analyse the car’s dynamics and thus tune our suspension setup to allow our drivers to safely push the car to the very limit of its performance.Simulation and CorrelationImplementing a Matlab Simulink model that will allow us to design and analyse our suspension design through the application of data that is generated from test sessions. This can be used to also verify our simulation and edit parameters to ensure the simulation correlates to real track testing.Simple Set-UpThe next step is to have a dynamics system on the car that is easily adjustable to ensure we can optimise the vehicle’s setup for different tracks such as Silverstone and Hockenheimring by changing key things like brake bias, camber, toe, ride height etc..Future Design The final major aim for this year is to test the new system by looking to the future and carrying out a a full dynamics redesign for WR7 with integrated anti-roll bars front and rear, centre locking hybrid wheels, floating disc brakes and optimised uprights.

From Monday 14th July to Sunday 27th July Merchant Taylors' School is running their second telephone fundraising campaign. I will be speaking to OMTs (Our Alumni) in order to bring them back in touch with Merchant Taylors' School. The aim is to get as many people to donate to our Annual Fund in order to provide the brightest and best students to attend the school, who may not have the financial backing to do so.

I worked at Williams Formula One for five weeks and was able to move across an array of departments to understand the processes involved:- I spent time working with carbon fibre and resin casting whilst preparing parts for the Wind Tunnel in the Model Shop- Worked in the Race Bay where I stripped down the 2012 gearbox and helped with preparing the race cars between the Spar and Monza race- I spent just over a week in the Wind Tunnel with the aerodynamicists, looking at point gains in performance of the 2013 and 2014 car.

Worked within the Aerodynamics and Thermal Management department of JLR and spent time doing the various roles undertaken by a technical specialist:- Spent time in the Climatic Wind Tunnel and Full Scale Wind Tunnel at the MIRA facility in Coventry- Carried out computational fluid dynamic modelling on the cars that I worked with and compiled my work into a presentation that was later delivered to the team

I carried out a two week placement in 2011, and after making a good impression I was asked to come back and carry out a second placement in 2012. - Worked on research in various computer systems that have been put in place - Carried out research on various project bids that Arup were to be making soon
