Working within the Performance and Strategic Investment Pillar at High Performance Sport New Zealand (HPSNZ), the key goal of this Business Unit is to optimise investment to National Sports Organisations (NSO's) to develop world leading High Performance Programmes. Key priorities of the role include:Working with High Performance Directors from various NSO's on strategic and operational planning and aiming to achieve a coordinated approach to investment from HPSNZ into NSO's.Peformance monitoring of agreed KPI's, risk management and financial expenditure.Provide the General Manager of the Business unit with advice, support and feedback on the Performance and Strategic Investment of the NSO's.

Seconded to this role. Key functions included:Development and implementation of build up plan for the New Zealand Olympic Swim Team. Working with coaches to develop individual performance plans for all potential Olympic Team members. Develop and manage the budget for the Olympic campaign.

Strategic priorities and functions included:Developing and implementing a National High Performance Strategy based on international best practice with the objective of delivering sustainable long term programs in South Africa and a greater depth of international level swimmers. Managing all aspects of the High Performance Program for Aquatics in South Africa.Member of the National Technical Committee. Developing and implementing a National Squad Program to ensure appropriate athlete support (medical, sports science) for various squads. Managing the Senior National Teams at major international competitions.Drafting, managing and implementing budgets and financial control measures. Regular reporting to all stakeholders regarding activities of the High Performance Unit.

I held this position as part of a dual role with the role of High Performance Manager. Strategic priorities and functions included:Development, implementation and continuous evaluation of a strategic plan for the Athlete Development Division aimed at fulfilling organizational strategic objectives.Operational management of the Athlete Development Division.This division includes the following work units: High Performance, Competition Management, Learn to Swim, Education and Training, Talent Development and Identification. Building and maintaining relationships with various stakeholders, role players and clients (Executive Board, Sponsors, Government, Media, Athletes, Coaches, Parents, Sports Agents) through communication and accessibility.Responsible for development and management of the budget for this business division.

Developing and implementation of a strategic plan aimed at improving junior level swimming, bridging the gap between junior and senior swimming and bridging the gap between national and international performances.Developing, implementing and monitoring project plans aimed at talented junior athletes with the aim of transitioning these talented athletes to junior national squad members and eventually on to senior national teams.Developing a sport specific manual for entry level swimming coaching.Managing various government funded projects.Developing and managing projects for various provincial academy programs.
