Rushil Malik is a Marketing and Communications Manager at Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. Colleagues describe him as "Rushil was a Youth Challenge International (YCI) volunteer participant in the Youth Climate Leadership Program for a period of 6 months in November 2021 – April 2022. YCI is a leading global youth development organization that also works in Canada on intersections of climate change and youth livelihoods. The Youth Climate Leadership Program supports youth Climate Leaders to enhance their skills and refine and grow climate solutions – whether they are community-based initiatives or social enterprises and green businesses. Rushil’s participation on a volunteer project with YCI is a significant accomplishment that shows her dedication, hard work, and commitment to her community and taking climate action. Rushil created Volunteer Green, an initiative connecting high school students with meaningful environment-related volunteer opportunities across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. Throughout the project, Rushil worked in challenging environments with minimal supervision where she took on a high level of responsibility. Rushil’s placement included: 1. An intensive design-thinking and systems-thinking phase to guide her through the process of designing and growing sustainable, climate-focused ventures and projects 2.
