I'd describe myself as a skilled HR generalist with experience in unionized environments - in the retail, college and public sector. My consulting practice has been assisting local governments in the Lower Island with HR solutions that are straightforward, appropriately scaled and relevant for smaller organizations.I am the author of the Human Resources Toolkit for Local Government Organizations, 2nd Edition, 2014 - a "best practices" sourcebook for CAOs in smaller municipalities without ready access to in-house HR advice. The Toolkit is published by the BC Local Government Management Association in Victoria. Projects that I have done include HR policy development, program audits, job description writing and evaluation, integrating staffing, job evaluation and performance management systems, and conducting employee relations and bullying/harassment training. A key aspect of my approach has been to develop in-house capacity, work closely with client staff and deliver work cost effectively and with quick turnarounds.In 2016, I was contracted as a subject matter advisor to the Auditor General for Local Government concerning their Human Resources Audits.
