About Russ Clark

Applying more than 30 years of unique skills and experiences to solutions in oncology care, Mr. Clark has founded or co-founded a number of cancer-related companies working with academic cancer centers, community hospitals, oncology practices, payers and biopharmaceutical companies. Academic cancer center clients have included the following: Yale, Johns Hopkins, Memorial Sloane-Kettering, Georgetown, University of Alabama-Birmingham, MD Anderson, University of Colorado, University of Arizona, and UCLA. He has extensive experience in organizing cancer clinical trials and academic and community hospital consortia. Mr. Clark has provided cancer focused information technology assistance to the Children’s Oncology Group, the National Cancer Institute and the states of Louisiana and Georgia. Industry clients have included GSK, Bristol Myers Squibb, Gen-Probe, American Healthways, HCA, Siemens, and Magellan Healthcare. He has worked in the cancer genomics field since 1999, initially for a company applying the latest in Support Vector Machine (SVM) advanced machine learning to identify clinically relevant, correlative patterns in genomic data. Beginning in 2015, Mr. Clark led a team that designed, documented and operationalized an oncology data sharing consortium with more than 100 sites, 500 oncologists and more than 4 million patients.

    Intervention Insights focused on the leading edge of personalized medicine in cancer. Our bioinformatics platform used eight algorithms to analyze the output of a CLIA lab based gene expression analysis using an Affy U-133 chip analysing more than 25,000 genes and comparing the expression patterns to those of normal tissue. Genes with aberrant expression were matched with more than 325 drugs to identify those that might be effective in impacting tumor growth. We developed an umbrella CRADA with the National Cancer Institute and had research studies supported by Priority Health and BCBS of South Carolina. Insights supported the research in neuroblastoma conducted by the Neuroblastoma and Meddulablastoma Translational Research Consortium.
