About Russ Matterson
Objectives:Having toured the world extensively with some of the greatest acts of our generation I am now looking to bring my experience back to my beloved Cornwall where I live with my partner and three-year-old daughter. I hope to play a part in bringing the arts & culture to the region by progressing my career in production management and coordinating live events within the industry. Skills Summary:I have eighteen years’ experience as an event organiser, production manager, sound engineer, and entrepreneur. My work to date has included international touring from clubs and theatres to arenas and stadiums. I have extensive experience in festival production, live mixing, producing, event production, pre and postproduction, sound design, accountancy, business strategy, marketing and promotion.In conjunction with, and for the past six years I have managed three businesses. One, a country pub with a community focus and an annual program of events. I have also project managed and delivered the renovation of a property to a high standard and managed this as a successful holiday rental property. Most recently, I set up an events company called Box Projects based in St.Issey, Cornwall. Although a recent company we have a combined 20 years experience and last summer we gained vital understanding of COVID-19 secure productions by conducting our own financed drive-in cinema screenings and outdoor ‘banquet & band’ experiences. As society starts to open up, we are pursuing collaborations with other arts and cultural organisations to work alongside within the county. I am articulate, highly organised, hard working and self-motivated with the ability to organise and manage others and to build and maintain positive relationships at all levels. I am highly ambitious with proven creative, technical and business skills with a passion for circular, green movements and social enterprises.
