Russ is a professional engineer with experience in site design, land development and program management. With decades of experience in commercial, residential, institutional and recreational design, he has established himself as a leader in civil engineering and construction in the southeast. After graduating Ole Miss in 1995, he moved to Atlanta and immediately began working on fast-paced projects in preparation the 1996 Olympic Games with the firm LRE Engineering. At LRE, Russ focused on commercial site design, specifically office parks and retail projects. The competitive but supportive environment was perfect for learning time management and all the basic skills necessary to assemble a quality set of construction documents. After LRE, Russ spent three years with Travis Pruitt & Associates just north of Atlanta in Norcross, Georgia. Residential land development, neighborhoods and road design were the primary projects types in which TPA excelled.Estes Shields Engineering was his first true management-focused position, and Russ was able to grow the knowledge base and efficiency of the Residential Department as the leader of this group. At ESE, Russ was given advanced training in Risk Management, Marketing, and other aspects of business that were not all just engineering calculations. Russell Davis & Associates began operating in late 2004 with a mission of promoting sustainable and efficient civil design solutions. RDA was off to the races early with the housing boom fueling a development market in Georgia. Russell Davis & Assoc was relocated officially to North Carolina in 2010, but continued to design and administer projects in Georgia and North Carolina until 2019. At RDA, an emphasis on multimodal trail and recreation design was cemented by partnering with Kaizen Collaborative and the PATH Foundation in Atlanta.The City of Asheville Public Works Department welcomed Russ as the Stormwater Program Manager in 2019. Under his leadership, the Stormwater Capital Projects group designed and awarded their first in-house design for a large collector system in West Asheville, NC. Russ was promoted to the position of Division Manager in 2021, which opened a new focus on management of a large group of over 30 talented and dedicated individuals in the Stormwater Division. In late 2024 Russ joined Summit Design & Engineering Services, Inc. as the Land Development Operations Manager. He is based in the Asheville office, and leads a powerhouse team that continues to positively influence the built environment across the United States.
