As I draw closer and closer to hitting 10 years in the IT industry, it's always fun to think back to when I was just a young kid completely enamored with IT despite not knowing .01% of what was going on behind the screen. Now, ages older and more experienced, I can confidently say that I know even less than .01% of what goes on today, and that's the fun of it!It turns out that growth isn't linear, exposure grows with experience, and interests change all the time. I always thought I would end up in Network Architecture, spending my whole life in Visio designing complex network diagrams for clients around the world. Sure enough, I didn't even get to that point before discovering Cybersecurity, getting an opportunity in the field, and falling in love with the depth and unpredictability that comes with pivoting into the Cybersecurity space.Fast forward to the present day, and I've had the pleasure of working my way through the Cybersecurity ladder. Going from a SOC Analyst, to a SOC Team Lead, before finally landing in the Incident Response role I have today has been a journey filled with both technical and social lessons learned. Oh, and plenty of lessons learned meetings to go with it! Fortunately, this growth has exposed me to some amazing communities and incredible individuals who have helped me nurture the passion I have Cybersecurity to this day.I love meeting new acquaintances who share the same passion for Cybersecurity as I do.
