Electrical & Control Solution are AC Motor control specialists, covering Kent and the surrounding counties.Our service is tailored around customer requirements for all motor starting and control methods e.g. Variable Speed Drives (VSDs), Soft Starts, Star Delta starters etc.In addition we also cover Power Factor Correction (PFC) and Control Systems, both of which are integral to most industrial motor applications.To complement the above we also provide a service for repair of industrial electronic equipment.

This position, based within the drives and controls section of the business, is mainly a technical sales / product specialist role focused on ABB Variable Speed Drives and motors in relation to the company’s status as an ABB approved AVP. The product specialist aspect of the role includes application assessment, drive system specification, technical support, and provision of MKE / ABB drives training for customers. In addition to the main drives and motors products, my scope also includes the ABB AC500 PLC range, ABB power factor correction equipment, and ABB power quality filters.As the company is a diverse engineering solution provider my role frequently extends in to other sections of the business providing services such as repair of motors, pumps, gearboxes, and industrial electronic equipment.

Responsible for managing all aspects of contracts from order received tocommissioning, this includes:Liaising with clients, suppliers and sub contractors. Ensuring the design fulfils the client's requirements.Keeping design, purchasing and labour within the planned time scale. Ensuring health and safetyrequirements are fulfilled and training is provided where required. Ensuring all required documentationis in place at the required time. Reporting on project progress and financial status.

During this time I have been undertaking temporary contract work with Smiths Medical (Portex) and Pfizer via Mansell Recruitment and Technical Placements.

This position was a progression from the previous position with the same company. Based within the Engineering Services / Health and Safety Department.The responsibilities in this role covered: Creation of electrical and mechanical specifications for new machinery. Design and implementation of complete machine and production line rebuilds in compliance with European harmonised standards. Control of contractors used within the projects. Ensuring projects stay on time and within budget. Setting and maintaining in-house engineering working standards. Engineer grading. PLC and HMI training for production engineers. Investigation of machine accidents / incidents.In addition to these onsite responsibilities, frequent travel in Europe was required as part of a team formachinery inspection and acceptance trials.

Based within the production department.Responsibilities in this position covered upgrading and development of production machinery to bring equipment in line with current safety standards and enhance performance. This process involved hardware and software modifications, creation of new electrical drawings where required using CAD and reverse engineering of control programmes. When not involved in projects I was part of the production engineering team.

Based within the electrical design office.Responsibilities in this position covered the design of electrical power and control systems formachines, in compliance with European harmonised standards. Production of wiring diagrams usingCAD, specification of parts and compiling of bills of materials. During the build stage my responsibilitiesextended to ensure any problems which arose, were overcome by the most practical and costeffective methods. After completion of construction my involvement continued with inspection & testing before final sign off and machinery dispatch.

In this position my responsibilities were electrical and mechanicalmaintenance and upgrading of selection, packaging and grading machinery. Other requirements wereto carry out electrical maintenance within the factory, i.e. power, plant and lighting.

Based within the production department.This position entailed electrical and electronic construction and fitting of assemblies. Panel building, wiring, testing, fault finding and repair of machines. Machines would normally include single and three phase supplies, AC and DC motors, motor speed controllers, PLC control systems, pneumatics and hydraulics. Other requirements were to carry out electrical maintenance within the factory. From May 96 I took on the supervision of a group of electricians, also deputising for the section leader in his absence.
