I worked with the Janitorial staff to help create a standardized system to order inventory in an effort to eliminate waste and reduce variation. We established a Kanban system where each product is held in a box with a colored card inserted in the box so when the janitor reaches the colored card all they have to do is turn it in to the main warehouse. The main warehouse takes the card and then delivers the inventory to the satellite warehouse. Each box that holds inventory has safety stock to ensure there isn't a stockout while waiting for the new inventory to be delivered.
