Andover, Hampshire

Responsible for the day to day operations in a busy traffic office, of which duties included ensuring all vehicles are loaded and depart on time, parcels and pallets are delivered on time and computerized records accurately maintained. Invoicing customers and other depots within the parcel and pallet distribution network. Liaising with customers and depots with regards to deliveries/collections and any other customer service orientated queries, and rate negotiation for both customers and depots. Warehouse duties included processing all incoming freight, international and domestic, loading vehicles and occasional driving cover of HGV II and multidrop vehicles.

At Heathrow, responsible for managing and co-ordinating all ramp activities to ensure safe and on-time departures. This involved continuous liaison with other operational departments inside and outside Virgin Atlantic Airways on a day-to-day basis. Also employed in the Flight Deck Briefing Room, collating Flight Deck paperwork, including, Flight Plans, Weather charts, TAFS, NOTAMS, NAT Tracks and other relevant documents for each flight. I was also responsible for training new staff the procedures for the safe opening of upper deck doors on company aircraft.

Employed on the civil air desk, responsible for booking high priority freight for the Royal Navy, Army and the Royal Air Force using cargo-handling agents. Also co-ordinating the Virgin Atlantic part charter to Washington DC, dealing directly with personnel in Virgin Atlantic doing ad-hoc and express shipments, and collating vital statistics. Sep 96-Jan 97 - Corporal at RAF Mount Pleasant, Falkland Islands. Responsible for a traffic/cargo team comprising of seven airmen. Duties were to prepare loads and load distribution sheets for aircraft arriving and once off loaded, back load the aircraft in time for its departure. Aug 90-May 95 - Corporal at RAF Lyneham employed mainly on shift, responsible for a traffic team of five airmen for two years. A passenger section of three for eight months, involving processing both inbound and outbound passengers using British Airways flight departure systems. Some time was spent in the load control office doing automated and manual trim sheets. Some time was also spent in the Day Cargo export section,and the foreign aircraft section. Feb 90-Aug 90 - Senior Aircraftsman at RAF Ascension on the passenger section, responsible for processing inbound and outbound passengers. Mar 89-Feb 90 - Senior Aircraftsman at the RAF Movements School, employed in the training support office. Oct 85-Mar 89 - Leading / Senior Aircraftsman at RAF Lyneham, employed on various sections including traffic, cargo and passenger. Also employed for 18 months on United Kingdom Mobile Air Movements Squadron.
