Russell Shaw is the Chief Executive of Top Energy Group, leading the executive management team and managing the company's broad range of business interests.Russell is an electrical engineer with over 30 years experience in the electricity and water utility sector. He has significant experience in utility strategy, management and operations. He also has extensive experience in both electricity and water asset management, performance improvement and engineering. He joined Top Energy in December 2008.Immediately prior to joining Top Energy Russell was General Manager for Operations at WEL Networks. He was responsible for the safety, planning, development, and operational control of the network which serviced 82,000 customers. In addition to this he led WEL’s internal Field Services group of over 100 staff who complete maintenance and capital works on WEL's network as well as providing services to other asset owners.Prior to this Russell was a partner with UMS Group, a global utility management consulting group. During his seven years at UMS Group he consulted on performance improvement to over 100 water and electricity utilities in the UK, US and Australasia. Before joining UMS Group Russell undertook various roles as an engineer at East Midlands Electricity, a Regional Electricity Company serving 2.2 million customers in the UK based in Nottingham, England.Russell is a Chartered Electrical Engineer, has an honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering an MSc in Engineering Business Management and is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology, a Fellow of Engineering New Zealand,a member of the Electricity Engineers Association and NZ Institute of Directors.Specialties: Leadership, Asset Management, Change Management, Benchmarking and Performance Improvement.
