Senior Lecturer at Bath Spa University and an architect with a wide range of experience including residential, commercial, and institutional projects, with a particular emphasis on the design of sports and leisure facilities, including aquatics centres, university sports and recreation facilities, and international competition venues. Skills include concept and detailed design, master planning and programming.Throughout his career Russell has combined practice with teaching. Before his current position at Bath Spa University, Russell has held permanent lectureships at Newcastle University and Coventry University, and has been a guest critic at Cardiff University and the Architectural Association in the UK, and Northeastern University, The Boston Architectural Center, and Roger Williams University in the US.Russell is an examiner for the Architects Registration Board, assessing whether candidates seeking entry to the register can demonstrate compliance with the Board's criteria.Russell continues to practice as an independent architect and as a sports and leisure design consultant to architectural practices.
