Experienced in-house legal and compliance professional with over 30 years’ experience primarily in the asset management industry with a major focus on institutional asset management legal and compliance support. Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work closely with senior management and key functional areas (e.g., portfolio management, risk, operations, due diligence, investor relations, marketing etc.), to support the activities of each company in such a manner as to balance the practical, business needs with the legal/regulatory needs of each business. I have worked closely with all major functional areas on a variety of issues relating to the internal control structure of the asset management business. I have analyzed various proposed and final U.S. federal, state and international laws and regulations to determine the potential impact on the asset management businesses and teams that I have supported. I have drafted, implemented and trained employees on a myriad of compliance related policies and procedures that were specifically tailored to the business risks and needs of each company and functional area. I have also worked closely with senior management and portfolio management teams in drafting and negotiating numerous investment management agreements for separate accounts across and array of investment products and strategies with institutional clients including corporations, state pension plans and sovereign wealth funds. I have worked with portfolio management teams, product development teams and numerous functional teams in the development and launch of several private funds for use primarily in the institutional marketplace. Finally, I have experience building, managing and developing a team of attorneys, compliance professionals and legal assistants. Finally, I also have extensive experience in corporate, sports and entertainment law having advised and helped to further the careers of several major athletes and entertainers.
