As the Theater Director at The Jewish Community High School of the Bay (JCHS), I use the arts as a tool for social change and community engagement. I design and deliver arts-based programs and curricula that foster creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking among diverse learners. I also directed and choreographed last fall's theater production. This spring, my Acting I class students will perform monologues and student-written plays at our all-school Arts Re/View event.Before joining JCHS, I worked with Walden School for almost 30 years, where I served as a teacher and administrator. In addition, I planned and coordinated events, fundraisers, and outreach activities that supported the school's mission and vision. Over the years, I freelanced at high school-age after-school and summer programs such as The Academy in Lafayette, The Marsh Youth Theater in San Francisco, and Youth Musical Theatre Company in Berkeley.I have also collaborated with various nonprofit organizations and schools to implement arts-based initiatives that address social issues. Some of my core competencies include event and program management, theater direction and instruction, child development, diversity, equity and inclusion, and progressive communication. I am always eager to learn new things, share my knowledge and experience, and contribute to meaningful causes that make a positive difference in the world.
