As Marine Superintendent I have the management of the Marine activities with regard to, overall control of Marine operations including planning and detail in accordance with Bluewater Policy and Procedures. Ensuring that hull stresses are maintained within defined limits and ensure vessel stability complies with statutory requirements. Management of cargo reception, storage and offloading (including Shuttle tanker mooring/unmooring)Ensuring Marine equipment relating to vessel integrity are maintained compliance with current legislation.

My assignment to Bluewater and the Aoka Mizu meant I was involved in the commissioning and sea trials of the marine and LSA systems onboard the FPSO. During the build I was asked to assist in the implementation of the Ship Security Plan. On completion of the build and sailing round to the North Sea, I was appointed as the Senior DP Operator for the “Hook Up” to the subsea system. Now on location I am carrying out all the regular duties of a Marine CRO i.e. Cargo, Ballast, Stability, Produced Water Handling, Communications, Management of the Preventative Maintenance System for the department, monitoring & organising of vessel operations within the 500m zone, Area Authority for marine systems ensuring all personnel under my jurisdiction complete tasks in safe and responsible manor and day to day running of the Marine Dept and assosiated vendors(eg Rope Access Teams, Scaffolders, Riggers).

During my time working for NMM, starting as a 3rd Officer/DPO and finishing my time as Chief Officer/Senior DPO, I gained numerous hours(+2500) DP experience loading from FPSO’s and also on the S.A.L system, with over 150 offshore loading operations completed. In conjunction to the offshore loading experience, I gained knowledge and controlled tanker operations such as COW, water washing and gas freeing.
