During my 8 year administration as Manager of the Applications Engineering group for Optical Systems, I guided the company through a period of significant growth in the optical products sector, contributing significantly to a doubling in annual sales revenue (5M to 10M). Before successfully bringing my group through a restructuring in 2009, which resulted in the creation of 2 separate core focused groups, I was responsible for leading a team of 16 engineers, technologists and technicians in providing global field support and commissioning services, system integration and testing, and remote customer support, in addition to all the responsibilities I carried over to the new role of Optical systems Product Manager (i.e. Customer Order Project Management; New Product Research and Development; Product Design Maintenance; Production Support; Technical Engineering Sales Support; Marketing Support; and providing input to the Executive Team on Portfolio Management)

In 1997 I was promoted from the role of Applications Specialist to that of Supervisor for Applications Engineering for 2 of the company's core optical systems. This position was a newly created role designed to offload from the Product Managers, the majority of the direct day to day business support responsibility, thus allowing them to concentrate on R&D and Market Development for their respective products (Accuband and Accuspeed). It also allowed for the company to project across various product lines, a more harmonized and consistent project management and customer relations management experience.

I was responsible for providing project management, system integration and testing, commissioning and field service, and remote customer support, for specific projects as assigned. Work involved traveling around the world on a moments notice for both short (1 to 2 day) emergency field support and technical sales support trips, to longer (2 to 10 week) commissioning assignments. I was also involved in hosting customer visits for factory acceptance tests and training, as well as writing user manuals and test procedures.
