As an attorney in Nashville, I represent large publicly-traded companies, small and medium-sized businesses, and individuals in business disputes. My clients and I work closely together to limit their risk and expense and to learn the facts early in the representation so we may prepare the right legal strategy. I appear in federal and state courts, at the trial and appellate levels, and in arbitration proceedings. My clients’ cases have involved breach of contract, business torts and unfair competition, information privacy and data theft, healthcare, intellectual property and entertainment, shareholder disputes and business separations, and commercial and residential real estate. Two law schools have used my book Electronic Discovery in Tennessee: Rules, Case Law and Distinctions as a textbook. The U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Tennessee largely adopted as Administrative Order No. 174-1 proposed revisions to the Court's Default Standard on eDiscovery prepared by a drafting committee I chaired. I have taught Cyber Law at the Belmont University School of Law and eDiscovery at the Nashville School of Law.
