About Rustam Karimov

I have more than four years of professional experience in the U.S. Embassy. I am currently employed and my major duties are to manage partnerships with CENTCOM Planning Team [CPT] partner nation forces, budgeting of CPT programs, housing and additional support mechanisms, coordination of Counter-Narcotics Program funded trainings, management of the Program of support of Counter-Narcotics Program, serving as tri-lingual (English, Tajik and Russian) interpreter/translator during official meetings. I possess five years of progressive experience in protection and administrative field with the Danish Refugee Council [DRC]. My professional history includes positions such as Assistant in Finance and Administration Unit, Protection Assistant and Protection Officer, as well as short-term employment at other organizations and government sector. I liaised and established initial co-operation connections and relationships with government agencies, specifically with Ministry of internal affairs, Headquarters office of Border Troops under the State Committee on National Security, Judges training center, Council of Justice and General Prosecutor’s office. I accomplished objectives in establishing initial communication with mainly government agencies and promotion of the scope of DRC’s fields of priority and co-operation strategies, as well as advocacy and mainstreaming of protection concerns. I was working on two major projects titled “Protecting the rights and easing the integration of asylum seekers and refugees, trafficking victims and stateless persons in Tajikistan” and “Rapid response to protection threats to refugees, asylum seekers and stateless persons in Tajikistan”.My main duties and responsibilities included planning, drafting and translating training related materials, conduction and full coordination of capacity building trainings and working groups relating to refugee, statelessness and human trafficking issues. As Protection officer, I conducted training sessions relating to the Country of origin information of asylum seekers covering both practical and theoretical aspects, as well as collecting data and preparation of situational analysis in the Republic of Tajikistan based on statistical data and case studies. As a result, I possess skills in the area of providing trainings to both stakeholders and internal staff.
