About Russ Paton
Starting with work at the Malcolm Knapp (UBC) Research Forest then Renewable Resource Management - Forestry at BCIT In 1988/89. I then did a research program with Phase Two Regeneration/GVRD & BCIT. During my time with JFW I did training with the BC Forest Service Rappattack Program and then went on to do Heliattack (Fire Suppression) and the contracts were set up to do streamshed restoration during the Spring and Fall shoulders to the fire season. This lead to private and public restoration projects around BC. In 1997 I joined Dawson Seed Co and looked after production as well as did R&D work and sales support. Dawson Closed it's doors in December of 2002, leading to me forming Quality Seeds West with two colleagues from DSC and an investor. Six successful years were spent working on forage, reveg and turf seed supply. Establishing Western Seed & Erosion allowed further specialization and a true one stop shop for all erosion, sediment and reveg projects providing supply, consulting, specifying, project mamangement, monitoring and contracting services (full of partial cycle) to civil, infrastructure (Highways, etc.), mines, forestry and energy sectors.
