Rustin is the CEO of Scalability, an online / cloud bookkeeping firm based in Toronto that specializes in Startups. Scalability has over 50 clients, all serviced remotely by utilizing a cloud software platform including Quickbooks and Xero for accounting, Payment Evolution and WagePoint for payroll, Box and Google Apps for storage and integration and Receipt Bank for digital recognition and data entry. In addition, we have developed a proven a proprietary workflow and collaboration software that is tailored for bookkeeping and tax compliance. Rustin’s career started as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG followed by almost ten years as a VP with Goldman Sachs in the hedge fund accounting and administration business. The entrepreneurial itch eventually got the best of him - he left Goldman to be the VP Finance (and de facto CFO) for a Toronto software startup called WaveApps. Once introduced to the world of online software it didn't take Rustin long to see how disruptive it was to the traditional back office. After a couple of years scaling with WaveApps Rustin took a role as the CFO and COO at Numeric Answers, a more traditional bookkeeping and accounting firm with a clear mandate to bring innovation and technology into the culture and operations. It was during his time at Numeric Answers that he discovered Scalability - he was so impressed with the founders, the staff and the platform that he jumped at the opportunity to join the company.
