Equipment Coordinator Iii

Charlotte, North Carolina Area

As the Equipment Coordinator & Superintendent for the site, Rusty managed all construction equipment requests, reservations, purchase orders, and deliveries for a multi-million-dollar industrial construction project (approx. $100MM). This Beneficial Ash project was located in Salisbury, North Carolina adjacent to Duke Energy's Buck Power Steam Station. Working in a new geographic and operational territory, Rusty had to build and manage relationships with all national and local construction equipment vendors, operations managers, and technicians to support the project. He scheduled deliveries, departures, inspections, maintenance and repairs for all cranes, heavy equipment, light equipment, trucks, tools, and specialty tools on site. He also organized the purchase of parts and consumables, for all crafts, equipment and tools. To support the project, Rusty worked closely with various stakeholders at the construction site, including: the Project Manager, Superintendents (General Field, Civil Concrete, Dirt, Survey, Electrical & Instrumentation, Structural, Crane & Rigging, Pipe, Millwright), buyers, warehouse, craft planners, schedulers, cost representatives, safety and environmental team members, operators, and mechanics. Rusty created and routinely updated an equipment forecast (approx. $8MM) for the lifecycle of the project, managing and evaluating the total and monthly rental costs. Based off this analysis, he would recommend and implement appropriate strategies to save cost and adhere to the allotted budgets. While working a strategic plan, he would also be called to respond immediately to requests from the field as well as verbal or written inquiries regarding status of equipment or cost information. For each craft superintendent, he would provide advisory services on equipment: job performance, options, accessibility, cost, and limitations. For the project, he developed and maintained record systems for all equipment requests, utilization, and maintenance.

For three years, Rusty managed the college recruitment efforts, nationwide, for the Zachry Group Corporate Internship Program.
