➤ Established goals and objectives for the Fire Department including conducting master planning activities for the future growth of the department, personnel needs, apparatus, and station needs, to include locations for new stations.➤ Led efforts for community risk reduction through strategic planning, organizing, and coordinating of all fire department activities ensuring readiness in all facets of the department.➤ Developed and managed department's annual budget while performing continuous evaluations of operations.➤ Managed the department’s 4 divisions of Administration, Community Risk Reduction, Operations, and Support Services. ➤ Provided financial oversight for a $10 M budget with 50 full-time employees, 48 of which are sworn, while responding to approximately 2400 calls for service on an annual basis and operating 3 fire stations.➤ Led the negotiations for 2 successful Collective Labor Agreements and established the department’s first 5-yr strategic plan.➤ Initiated the development of a Standard of Cover and developed a Capital Improvement Plan to address growth.➤ Transitioned the department from a combination agency to a career all-hazard fire department.➤ Led collaboration to update all policies and transitioned department to a web-based, best practices policy manual (Lexipol).➤ Secured $60,000 fuel mitigation grant in partnership with SW Idaho Resource Conservation and Development Council.

➤ Managed the Community Risk Reduction Division encompassing community engagement, public education, life safety and hazardous materials sections, new development, and served as the Fire Code Official for major resort and tourist destination.➤ Oversaw the 200,000 square foot Anaheim Convention Center expansion and Disneyland Star Wars Galaxy Edge design process and beginning of construction.➤ Facilitated the creation of the Community Risk Reduction Officer classification for the fire department.➤ Successful procurement of $350,000 Federal Grant for smoke detector purchase and installation program for high risk groups.➤ Coordinated and implemented the Ready, Set, Go Program in the wildland urban interface.

➤ Served as Shift Battalion Commander and oversaw management of 5 fire stations encompassing 10 ALS fire companies, incident command of major emergency responses, and program management for Hazardous Materials Response Teams.➤ Led all battalion operations and activities including planning, directing, and managing fire prevention, suppression, investigation, inspection, emergency medical services, and public education.➤ Exercised direct supervision for ten-line supervisors providing regular mentoring in the areas of leadership, organizational expectations and incident command to battalion personnel.➤ Selected, trained, motivated, and evaluated fire department personnel including providing or coordinating training, working with team members to correct deficiencies, and reviewing and evaluating work methods/procedures.➤ Planned, directed, and coordinated through subordinate-level supervisors the fire department's work plan, met with line supervisors to identify and resolve problems, and assigned projects or programmatic areas of responsibility.➤ Responded to major fire alarms, personally directed fire suppression activities as necessary as well as supervised and conducted fire incident investigations and responding to and resolving sensitive inquiries or complaints.➤ Managed Hazardous Materials Response Team program and served as department liaison for FEMA Taskforce 5 Urban Search and Rescue Team.

➤ Responsible for department capital projects/contract administration and management, employee relations issues and investigations, staff representative for labor contract negotiations, and directed entry-level recruitment and promotions.➤ Oversaw the Metro Cities Fire Authority Dispatch Center, which provided dispatch services to eight cities in Orange County, Emergency Management and Preparedness Section, responsible to coordinate all departments in the city, and managed the Fleet and Facility departmental functions.➤ Member of the Strategic Planning and Standards of Cover/Accreditation Committees; successfully achieved Accreditation.➤ Monitored and evaluated the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods or procedures including assessing or monitoring workloads, administrative support systems, and internal reporting relationships.➤ Coordinated assigned activities and represented the fire department to other city departments, elected officials, and outside agencies while providing highly responsible and complex administrative analysis.➤ Explained and interpreted fire department programs, policies, or activities, identifying opportunities for improvement and directed the implementation of related changes as well as resolved sensitive, significant, and controversial issues.➤ Successful procurement of Federal Grants for driving simulator, hazardous materials apparatus and equipment, totaling approximately $675,000.➤ Coordinated the specification, purchase, and equipping of five Type 3 Wildland engines.
