Software Engineering Manager
CurrentWe provide critical infrastructure software to the utility industry. I lead 11 software engineers on the Mobile Workbench team. At one point, I led two engineering teams focused on developing distinct products, including a critical 3-month stretch overseeing the entire Platform and Workbench engineering teams with 18 direct reports. My team also includes 3 product owners/managers, and 6 QA engineers. I also actively participate in the backlog refinement and sprint review meetings that the product owners run. We updated the hiring process and development of team members, providing mentorship and technical guidance, resulting in a highly skilled and motivated engineering workforce.Observed and corrected employee performance concerns. Participate in quarterly reviews and bi-weekly 1:1s, providing praise and critique where warranted and tailored action items for each employee.Collaborate with the product team to develop and implement product roadmaps that align with customer needs and business strategy while identifying and advocating the technical roadmap items.Established and refined technical processes and procedures, including coding standards and code reviews, and navigated the engineering teams through tight project deadlines amidst competing and shifting priorities.Utilized a solid technical background in software development to provide leadership and strategic direction, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software solutions.Built and maintained strong relationships with team members, effectively communicating complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
