Kabul, Afghanistan

Part of a team assigned to secure and supervise specific areas of a large military construction project. On around the clock basis performed access control functions at all entrances to the secure construction areas to ensure only authorized personnel gained access. Our primary mission was to ensure security standards in the construction of the facility were met at all times and deter the introduction of potential threats. Screening all workers and equipment entering the site was essential to denying the introduction of prohibited materials such as explosives, weapons, electronic devices, or other items as specified by the client. Random inspections of all work areas and materials within the secure areas were performed regularly to ensure none of these prohibited items had made their way into the site. Monitoring and escorting all non-cleared workers was also a necessary task from time to time and was done only when access was granted by the client. Our team was also tasked with maintaining a secure storage area (SSA) established by the construction company within the construction site footprint where all construction materials and equipment to be used in the secured areas were stored.

Kabul, Afghanistan

In support of base defense operations my roles are those of an advisor, liaison, and supervisor. I work closely with the US Army force protection team to ensure all force protection measures are at peak performance. I serve as a force protection subject matter expert and make recommendations for asset usage and placement to maximize effectiveness. As a liaison I facilitate the flow of information between the civilian guard force and US Military to ensure complete and accurate information is relayed as intended. While part of the supervisory team I am responsible for the continued training and guidance of Local National (LN) guards and Third Country National (TCN) guards. I also assist the military with the operation of the many force protection surveillance and detection systems; to include the operation of the Rapid Aerostat Initial Deployment (RAID) Tower, Rapid Deployment Integrated Surveillance System (RDISS), Z Back Scatter Military Trailer, Rapiscan personnel scanner, and Biometric Automated Toolset System (BATS).

Kabul, Afghanistan

Upon appointment I assumed all duties as the site manager for a very exclusive, high profile military site in Afghanistan. As the site manager I was responsible for the welfare of a small team of US personnel as well as overall access control for the compound. On a daily basis I would inspect all equipment for serviceability and accountability, inspect the compound perimeter and security devices, all post orders and logs, as well as all other reporting documents. I was accountable to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) for all security measures, training, and personnel management. Subject to strict audits it was imperative to ensure all documents were accurate and orderly at all times. Through hard work and dedication a solid working relationship was established with the COR and other military personnel. In return my staff and I were held in the highest regard and served as part of the close knit military family.

Stafford, Virginia

As an Installer and service representative my initial task was to meet with customers who had already agreed upon purchasing our services through a sales representative. When rendering services I would be responsible for conducting a security survey of the property with the resident and making recommendations based on their needs, property layout, and location. As the subject matter expert it was imperative for me to gain the customers trust and demonstrate extensive knowledge in home protection. I would regularly be responsible for completing the service agreement with the customer and insure they had a good understanding of the service being provided. Many times I entered a home as a stranger and left as a friend; always striving to provide the best possible service to my customers and ensuring their system was installed to the highest of standards.

Culpeper, Virginia

As a shift supervisor and the designated training sergeant I lead and trained numerous officers assigned to work under my supervision. On a daily basis I strived for excellence in my team and carried out an ever improving security plan for the installation. My team diligently scrutinized all access requests to maintain superior security while monitoring all areas using computerized systems as well as physical inspections. As a supervisor I was tasked with inspecting and maintaining equipment to ensure proper function at all times. My team conducted thorough inspections of personnel and property upon entry to the campus and buildings using multiple state of the art systems and simple handheld tools. Training incoming officers to perform the tasks required for superior protection to the client was a task I did not take lightly and every officer was always given the knowledge they needed to succeed.

Afghanistan

From March 2004 to August 2005 I served on active duty in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. I was deployed to Bagram Air Field in Afghanistan where I served as a combat soldier in many different roles. As part of a Light Infantry Platoon I performed multiple combat patrols throughout the eastern region of Afghanistan and performed Force Protection duties on small and large bases. My unit served as part of a task force regularly assigned to securing the Afghan President. I have spent many hours providing over watch as he gave public addresses or met with dignitaries. I have actively engaged in ground combat with enemy forces for which I was awarded the Combat Infantryman’s Badge (CIB). As a combat soldier I also filled in other rolls as needed. I worked in administrative support for the company commander and first sergeant. I regularly drafted correspondence on behalf of the perimeter security commander and edited many soldier awards and other personnel actions. Along with the CIB I was awarded the German Army Schützenschnur, Army Achievement Medal, and Army Good Conduct Medal.

Northern Virginia

From October 2006 – October 2007 Working as a RRNCO for the Virginia Army National Guard. I sought out qualified candidates for enlistment into any of the many programs offered by the Army National Guard. I aided prospective soldiers in navigating the process of enlistment and continued to offer support as they made the transition to Citizen Soldier. Working with various public and private organizations I obtained enlistment referrals as well as opportunities to interact with the public as a representative of the US Armed Forces. Throughout my service I prepared and processed applications to enlist, extend, and reenlist for individuals who wished to serve and continue to serve. It was imperative that I worked independently as well as part of a team to ensure successful applications.

Mahmudiyah, Iraq

From January 2009 to February 2010 I served on active duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. I was deployed to Forward Operating Base Mahmudiyah in Iraq where I served as the BDOC NCOIC. I directly managed all force protection operations and assets while reporting to the Force Protection Commander. I directly and indirectly supervised over 100 force protection personnel to include US Army Soldiers and civilian contractors. I was responsible for the implementation of the base defense plan and for the training oversight and emplacement of millions of dollars worth of state of the art force protection equipment. As a result of the extensive physical security assessments upon and prior to my appointment as BDOC NCOIC many upgrades were made to the base perimeter. Due to my achievements and filling a duty position above my pay grade, I was awarded the Battalion Coin for Excellence, Army Commendation Medal and Army Good Conduct Medal.
