Spent a year as the safety director for United States Forces-Afghanistan, South/Southwest (USFOR-A S/SW), taking care of over 30,000 military personnel and 1000 civilians. Over 17 years experience in highly demanding occupational safety and health positions in the Air Force at Wing and Group level with an extensive background in developing, implementing, and managing ground/weapon safety programs, technical training courses, problem solving, decision making and financial management. Plan, organize, direct, and control safety activities. Evaluate, inspect and survey areas and activities to eliminate mishap potential. Conduct mishap investigations, identify causes, trends, and recommend corrective action to prevent recurrence. Provide safety consultation to all levels, review and research Air Force, Department of Defense, Occupational Safety and Health, etc. standards, review engineering plans, drawings, and contracts for inclusion of safety criteria. Perform inspections to identify mishap potential and assess integration of Operational Risk Management approach, safety equipment and procedures. I have a vast knowledge of AFOSH and OSHA methodology and related social science policies and practices. I have demonstrated the professional knowledge of Safety methodology required to research, document, analyze, implement, follow-up, and oversee numerous programs and policies at once. I have exhibited effective oral communications including oral interview techniques to clarify information not supplied by other documents. I displayed the ability to deploy to a bare-base environment and continue to perform the Safety function. I’ve attended the USAF Weapons Safety School and the FSNCO School. Only nine semester hours from my Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety and Health, then I will continue on to my Masters degree.

I researched, documented, analyzed, wrote, and systematically organized annual inspections, base support agreements, and local safety standards. I conducted oral interviews with key personnel to supply missing information on various subjects. I conducted intensive study in all phases of the wing in order to properly document its mission and operation pertaining to safety. As an authoritative advisor I responded to a variety of emergencies that required immediate action and advised wing and squadron commanders on appropriate actions to take. I provided background and analysis on subjects critical to the importance of Fairchild AFB and the surrounding community. I implemented and disseminated material for use in the wing?s planning, operations, doctrine, education, training, policy, and decision making processes. I prepared, reviewed, and published safety pamphlets for dissemination to base personnel and distinguished visitors. I collected, maintained, inventoried, and properly preserved evidence for safety investigations. I maintained readiness, participated in deployment and contingency operations. I wrote and updated safety annexes in operations plans as required, ensuring safety was represented in contingencies. I attended headquarter briefings and meetings to provide a safety perspective.
