• DA-BAR program: Improvement of the Satellite-based Modular Mapping and Assessment System for Rice Production in the Philippines (MaPalay v.2) • Improved the MaPalay rice classification plugin. • Added a denoising feature. • Added output options for better testing & debugging. Also reworked the flag system for easier comprehension of results. • Implemented multiple internal data processing including ArcMap-style slope calculation, dB conversion, per-pixel LAI calculation, etc. • Developed a parameter optimization plugin. • Reworked the plugin template by SNAP to allow: targeted raster loading schemes, custom Python script execution to enable multiprocessing, etc. • Tested various optimization methods, multi-step approaches, buffer mechanisms, etc. to improve the output. • Developed an automated accuracy assessment plugin. • Outputs confusion matrix values. • Also assesses pre-denoising values if possible. Useful for checking how denoising affected the assessment. • Participated in training workshops to learn about other workflows and methods in use in rice mapping. Also presented our program development process. • Wrote progress reports, training and developer manuals with the team.

• DOST project: Digital Imaging for Monitoring and Evaluation (DIME) Project 1: Monitoring and Assessment of Planting Activities and other Applications (MAPA2).• Spearheaded the development of a fully-automated system for nationwide scale monitoring of reforestation activities in the Philippines. • Using Google Earth Engine’s Python API for downloading and processing, we were able to produce analysis-ready data sets for tens of thousands sites in only a span of a few days with no user-intervention required.• Participated in fieldwork activities (primarily tree counting using a total station) with the team for ground data acquisition.• Participated with the DBM personnel training workshop presenting.• Submitted a paper titled “Development Of An Automated System For Monitoring The Performance Of Reforestation Activities Using Google Earth Engine” to the 40th Asian Conference in Remote Sensing.

• DA-BAR program: Development of Satellite-based Modular Mapping and Assessment Program for Rice Production for the Philippines (MaPalay)• Developed a plugin in Sentinel Application Platform (SNAP) for a rice classification algorithm from Sentinel-1 SAR images. • The algorithm was written in Python and invoked through SNAP’s Java API library.• Assessed and incorporated various methods to improve the overall execution speed of the plugin.• Participated in training workshops to learn about other workflows and methods in use in rice mapping. • DENR program: Coastal Assessment for Rehabilitation Enhancement: Capability Development and Resiliency of EcoSystems – Coral Reef Visualization and Assessment: Project 1b-9. Remote Sensing of Coastal Habitats and Stressors • Processed multi-band satellite image data (Landsat) to algorithmically detect seagrass beds using ENVI and ArcGIS.• Studied the algorithm/data parameter sensitivity to further understand and improve the results of unsupervised detection.• Studied seagrass’ habitat properties to improve output tuning methods.• Finished the Intro to ENVI Analytics certification course by Geodata Systems Technology, Inc., Aug 2016.• Improved and standardized the data processing workflow (with basic troubleshooting) which culminated to a comprehensive training guide.• Trained new personnel and co-wrote project reports with the team.

• DENR program: Coastal Assessment for Rehabilitation Enhancement: Capability Development and Resiliency of EcoSystems – Coral Reef Visualization and Assessment: Project 1b-6. Coastal Stability Assessment • Processed shoreline trace and bathymetric change data using ArcGIS.• Underwent training for and later on operated Digital GPS units for beach profiling and shoreline mapping during field works.• Vectorized and added GUI to secondary data (earthquake and storm count, rainfall frequency, and wind direction) automation codes in MATLAB.

• Wrote and defended an undergraduate thesis titled Effects of Ba-site Mn Doping in a YBa2Cu3O7-δ System.• Worked with a Pulsed Laser Deposition setup for the fabrication of thin films and spectroscopic analysis of its plasma plume.• Acted as the Sample Preparation station manager and produced the station’s safety guidelines and proper work ethics manual.• Fabricated ceramic bulk superconductors through solid-state reaction as part of my research work.• Built, restructured, co-designed, and maintained high-temperature furnaces.• Trained new laboratory members during their apprenticeship as well as high-school and college students during their Summer Immersion Programs.• Quantitative and qualitative analysis of various experimental data culminating to multiple publications.
