The Motion Industries branch in Lynchburg serves local industrial customers and manufacturers by delivering quality products such as bearings, mechanical power transmission components, electrical and industrial automation items, hydraulic and industrial hose, hydraulic and pneumatic components, industrial supplies, and material handling supplies from an extensive list of leading manufacturers and company distribution centers with reliable service. With my background in bulk material handling and mechanical power transmission, I brought value to our customers by providing solid technical advice and placing a high priority on their satisfaction.

Working at Webster Marine Center was an opportunity to draw on over thirty years of personal boating experience, and over twenty years of experience as a tournament water skier, to help customers select the best solution for their recreational boating objectives. Developing relationships with my customers by learning about how they intended to spend their time on the water, then being a resource they could rely on during their decision process and well after the purchase was the most rewarding aspect of my job.

Stillwater Enterprises was a one-person consulting business that I started in order to utilize my skills by working with companies to develop unique and effective solutions for their material handling needs through engineering, design drawings, as well as specification of power transmission components and conveyor drive systems.

Old Dominion Fabricators was a custom steel fabrication shop. We worked on jobs ranging from custom residential handrails to complex bulk material handling systems shipped overseas. I was responsible for engineering, design, and steel detailing; design of unique solutions to meet a customer's need; project management of fabrication jobs; coordinating shipping domestically and internationally; ordering of materials and supplies to maintain project flow through the fabrication shop; working with subcontractors; creation of shop and erection drawings by hand and with AutoCAD.

R & D Fabricators changed ownership and became Old Dominion Fabricators in January 1998.

As my first job after graduating from Virginia Tech, I had the good fortune to work with, and learn from, an exceptional group of people at Luck Stone. My responsibilities as a design engineer consisted of engineering and design of plant layouts including: belt conveyors, elevating radial stacking conveyors, water handling systems, structures for crushing and screening equipment, and maintenance egress for plant equipment; cost estimating for capital projects controlling and tracking expenses for capital projects; scheduling projects for the construction crews; specification and purchase of power transmission, bulk material handling, hydraulic, and water handling equipment; providing technical advice and trouble shooting for Plant Managers and Foremen; creation of drawings by hand and on AutoCAD.
