Rusty Willis is a Sophomore in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering at Purdue's College of Engineering. He would like to be a systems engineer in the Aerospace field. He has experience leading engineering teams, spacecraft research, and general engineering work. In his spare time, he likes to play Guitar, Violin, and Piano, go mountain biking, and make videos. He is currently working at Purdue Space Program Active Controls as a Propulsion and Structures engineer working to create a propulsive lander for the Collegiate Propulsive Lander Challenge. He also leads the Business Team for this project to aid in project management, fundraising, and other logistics tasks. Lastly he is a member of the Executive Board for the 600+ member club.He led Astral Orbit, a nationally ranked rocketry team as Captain and Chief Engineer. During his tenure he led the team to design and build an original sounding rocket experiment with the NASA TechRise student challenge, raised over $10,000 dollars through fundraising, prize money and grants, generated over 50,000 views across various channels, and created award winning STEM videos.He recently finished an internship at St. Louis University's Space Systems Research Lab over the 2022 Summer where he worked on CubeSat hardware. He designed various lab safety equipment, a ground communication station, and a trade study of solar panel designs.He’s always looking to network and is open to Internship opportunities.U.S. Citizen
