PhD-student at AMOLF in the research groups Biophysics (Sander Tans) and Quantitative Developmental Biology (Jeroen van Zon)How does the small intestine function? In an adult human about a million cells are replaced every second in our intestines. How does that function for an entire life? By imaging organoids (mini-organs grown in a dish) under a microscope we try to answer this question. In my work I have written the computer program OrganoidTracker, that follows organoids cell by cell, and I investigated how the small intestine regulates itself, and how it makes use of the so-called Wnt signaling.
