I am a physiotherapist, educator and researcher with skills and experience in the field of neurological rehabilitation and health service delivery to rural, remote and Indigenous communities. In addition, I am lead inventor of the SMART Arm, a novel non-robotic device to promote arm recovery after stroke and brain injury. Over the past four years I have focused on implementation and evaluation of a student assisted, inter-professional community rehabilitation service for people with neurological conditions from rural, remote and Indigenous communities of northern Queensland. I have also been engaged in the conduct of clinical trials and development of clinical guidelines for use of the SMART Arm.I have recently moved into a new research position in 'Rehabilitation'. The focus of the role is on building allied health research capacity in the field of rehabilitation with emphasis on the unique requirements for rehabilitation in northern Australia.
