Jacinth Ambrosia

As plant metallurgist for the concentrator at the Jacinth Ambrosia mine site, I am primarily responsible for achieving target grade and recovery of zircon and titanium dioxide in the heavy mineral concentrate by adjusting spiral and hydrosizer settings as required for feed grade changes. I am also responsible for managing metallurgical technicians across day and night shift running laboratory samples for metallurgical accounting and plant control. During my time on site, grades and recoveries have improved through improved understanding of the effects of recirculating loads in the spirals, improved understanding of the operation of the hydrosizers, better communication with mine geologists, and implementation of a project to recirculate a tails stream. Implemented pH control on acid addition to tails leach, improving free acid compliance to target in leach tanks, and resulting in acid savings and improved downstream recovery.

Managed minerals processing laboratory testwork programs for clients. Usually programs consisted of flotation and/or leach testwork, but I also mananged a comminution program, a gravity project, and HLS work.

As part of a small management team working on a large geometallurgy testwork program, conducted QC checks on test results, created and managed a system of tracking assay submissions, returns and QC, followed up client requests and communicated changes to laboratory technicians. Worked with the client to develop procedures for concentrate leaching, settling and rheology. Was awarded the Minerals Processing "Good Science" award for my work on this program.
