I am an author of a creative non-fiction memoir, Matters of the Heart, book one, The Early Years, published July 19, 2015. When finished, it will be two books, if not a trilogy, of a very multifaceted, wonderful life, not without struggles and hardship, but a life filled with love, joy and accomplishment as a large family growing up in the foothills of the Appalachians, struggle to make a life for themselves. The story starts in the 1930's when the main character in this book, a young girl, is slated to graduate high school with a lucrative, all-coverage scholarship making it possible for one from a near poverty background , to seek higher education striving toward her goal of being a teacher. Upon considering the scholarship she realized that it required difficult decisions to be made. Untold difficulties arise when, without seeking guidance from her parents, she makes a non-reversible decision, one that is at utmost odds with that of her parents' approval. If she could have known what her decision entailed for her down this road, would she have chosen to take it? My book got a rather slow start, but during the COVID19 interruption in the lives of the world, stay-at-homes tended to read more and book sales have risen steeply! The pandemic certainly is not welcome regardless of the side effects of positivity! Stay safe!
