About Ruth Collier
I have worked in a variety of different roles and have picked up different skills from each. I am used to dealing with customers face to face, I can work well as part of a team, as well as getting on with my work on my own when the situation calls for it. I am self motivated and the customer is very important to me. I don't work hard just because I'm getting paid for it, or only when the boss is watching. I want to customer to have the best experience possible and therefore the best view of me and the company I represent. It is a matter of pride and I always have pride in whatever job I'm doing.I enjoy meeting new people at work and always end up developing a good working relationship with those around me, so I feel I have good people skills in this respect.I also enjoy a challenge, and I am looking forward to developing my skills further instead of just settling as I am. I am looking mainly for admin work (possibly PA, payroll or receptionist work too) but I would consider some customer service work as well. I am hoping to find a company that I have a personal interest in. This could include (but is not limited to) the arts, education, the media, creative industries or charity or environmental organisations. I am looking for somewhere I can develop my abilites and learn new ones. I am willing to start at the bottom and work my way up in the right company. My current company is closing down in June/July 2011 but I would be willing to leave before this time if a suitable job was offered. I would still need to give my current employers two weeks notice.Specialties: I am proficient in computer skills, as I use one in my spare time on a regular basis. I can type quickly, although I have no typing qualification I plan to obtain one soon.Similarly I have no computer certificates but I am looking into getting one so I have proof of my present skills.
Listed skills include Customer Service, Teamwork, Microsoft Word, Team Leadership, and 3 others.

Fulfilment Operative (Admin Assistant)
CurrentI work in the 'fulfilment' department of the East Coast contact centre in Newcastle. Our departments main job is the printing, organising and posting of all ticket bookings. this includes business travel, telesales and web bookings, all of which involve different equipment and processes. This job involves a high level of attention to detail as tickets can easily get mixed up or dropped, and some require paperwork which we have to check. The job also involves basic maintenance of the printing equipment (and phoning the repair company when things are beyond our ability to fix), general housekeeping, logging both incoming and outgoing post, keeping records of special deliveries, maintaining good communication with other departments and stations through phone, email and fax, filing and archiving, responsibility for scanning confidential information (credit card details are scanned into a password protected document and the originals are shredded), unloading new stock and any other duties as needed.I work as part of a small team, and so regularly have to get on with an individual task, while still being aware of my team mates (ie. noticing that my task is small while another team member could use some assistance, or arranging my breaks around other peoples so that certain posts are not left unmanned).I will be leaving this position by about June 2011 as the contact centre is shutting down. However I would be willing to leave earlier (still giving two weeks notice) if the right job came along.
Cashier/ Shop Assistant
In this position I worked on my own there was obviously a great deal of responsibility involved. My duties included serving customers, operating the till, counting up the takings at the end of the night, asking for ID from people who seemed under age, re-stocking the shelves, some cleaning and on a few occasions reporting shop lifting incidents to the police.I had to be quite focussed as there were often quiet periods where no customers came in and I would have to keep myself busy. It also required a certain strength of mind as I would be on my own for long periods of time, and often locking up the shop late at night.
Receptionist/Office Assistant
This was my first office role. My duties included answering the phones, inputting new orders into the computer system and filing older orders, organising the outgoing post, and any general errands as required.I left this job because I was leaving for university.
Bar Staff
This job involved typical bar staff duties such as serving drinks, operating the till, checking ID, washing glasses, tables and ashtrays, and any other housekeeping required. It was hectic and fast paced, especially on match days as it was a city centre pub.I left this job to gain office experience.
Bar Staff (The Bridle Path, Whickham)
This role involved all general bar work such as serving drinks, handling money, cleaning glasses, ashtrays and tables, taking food orders, checking for ID, emptying the bottle bins, changing optics and cleaning beer nozzles and drip trays at the end of the night.I left this job due to moving house, however I later moved back to the area and worked here part time during my holidays from university.
