Experience:(1) Gramercy Surgery Center - Legal Compliance Upon graduation from my LLM program I spent two years working in-house at Gramercy Surgery Center in a legal compliance and human resources role. While there, I oversaw management of all malpractice and other litigation, contracts, hiring and retention, and was involved in HIPPA, stark law, and shareholder issues. This experience provided me with the insight and passion needed to branch out and pursue my passion: medical malpractice defense litigation. (2) Kaufman Borgeest & Ryan, LLP - Medical Malpractice & Long Term Care DefenseI joined KBR in 2016 and have remained there ever since. My practice focuses on the defense of physicians, hospitals, medical practices, surgery centers, long term care facilities and home care agencies in the New York metro-area and statewide. Over the past six years I have honed key skills including persuasive writing, cross-examination, and negotiation technique in order to provide a strong and zealous defense to our valued health care professionals. Education:(1) BCL HONS (International)Graduate of University College Cork's flagship Law program, Law(international). As part of this highly competitive degree course I spent a year abroad, studying alongside final year JD student's in New York City's Brooklyn Law School. While there I laid the foundations to achieve my goal of qualifying as a New York Attorney and I emerged from UCC with an offer of a place in Brooklyn Law School's LLM program for foreign trained lawyers in hand.(2) LLM for Foreign Trained LawyersI received my LLM from Brooklyn Law School in February 2014 .My studies there focused on healthcare and criminal law and I studied a wide range of topics in both areas in Brooklyn Law School. Examples include Criminal Law, Domestic Violence and the Law, Evidence, Juvenile Justice, Information Privacy Law, Mental Health Law, Health Law and Bioethics and Public Policy. During my exchange program in Brooklyn Law School I wrote a paper on procedural errors in Death Penalty cases and this was shortlisted for publication in the 2012 Cork Online Law Review.
