I also deliver the ASDAN CoPE qualification for students in KS4. The course involved activities to promote good team working and problem solving skills through local outings and residential trips and visits from youth workers/outside training providers. I feel passionate that students should learn skills that will set them up for life after education so they are able to succeed as independent young people.Recently the school has converted to academy status and I have had the opportunity to take on extra responsibilities and am now a member of the extended SLT. I have been involved in writing and implementing school-wide policies and improvement plans. I am currently involved in implementing the national incentive on improving assessment for learning through the Life After Levels approach across the school. I took on the responsibility for creating the timetable for all the staff and the students and helping the staff to develop their subject areas to ensure that we are delivering a more varied, interesting and relevant curriculum for our students when the conversion was due to take place.As a member of SLT, I have the opportunity to mentor and coach staff to enable them to develop in their own professional capacity and build their resilience in an ever changing work climate. In a society that is becoming ever more secular it was vital to make the learning relevant to their own lives. The Forest School had a diverse and inclusive community of staff and students and we were able to facilitate some very frank and enlightened discussions on some very difficult ethical and religious topics.In my role as teacher of RE, I produced high quality teaching and revision resources for use across the whole department, including for non-specialist teachers of RE. I supported and directed LSAs to work effectively to help the students to progress to the best of their ability. I wrote common assessments and mark schemes to be used across the whole year group. I wrote full reports each year for around 400 students from year seven to 12. I developed schemes of work for KS3 RE and produced new resources and revision guides for the new GCSE Full Course that was introduced. I organised an INSET day for the RE teachers from our local federation of nine secondary schools.I was also responsible for developing schemes of work and resources for students with BESD and SEN needs at KS3 and KS4, to develop numeracy, literacy and social skills through project-based learning. After I left this post, I was thrilled when an ex-student told me that I was the only member of staff he felt safe enough to voice his quite controversial viewpoints to and be able to discuss them with his peers. He said he felt his understanding and consideration of other peoples' opinions had helped him to be more tolerant of them, but also to be able to challenge his own ideas further. - A real proud teacher moment. I was responsible the school accredited as an examination centre, registering candidates with the awarding body, attending external moderation meetings and performing internal moderation for other local ASDAN centres.I am proud to have be nominated for Teaching Assistant of the Year Award by one of my colleagues.

I attended meetings, preparing and distributing minutes, letters, documents, reports and presentations to the highest standard. I had to maintain an efficient, accurate and confidential personal information system for all levels of associates providing reports as necessary including org charts and timesheets.In this role I was privy to some very sensitive information as the company was going through a time of great change and was expected to be totally professional and trustworthy in some challenging situations.I thoroughly enjoyed this role, especially being able to use my initiative to deal with the many and various issues that arose every day.
