I am developing a new digital coordination tool for Heathrow Airport that will allow them to see where construction work is taking place and when across the Heathrow estate.

I was responsible for the 4D model (3D + time) in Area East of the HS2 London Tunnels project. I coordinated the 4D planning for the project and worked with the delivery team to help solve problems using 4D information. I produced animation videos to allow communication of the construction sequence to different stakeholders.

Based in Costain's Transportation Consultancy team advising design teams and clients on the constructability of complex rail infrastructure schemes in their early GRIP stages. My role involved working closely with designers & clients to identify changes to the design that could improve construction and operational safety. I also used my experience to develop optimal construction sequencing and construction programmes including 4D modelling.

Responsible for managing the reconfiguration of a Grade 1 listed building to form new office and retail space as well as a new walkway to link the new Crossrail station to the existing Network Rail Paddington Station. Managed the procurement and safe delivery of a suite of works including asbestos removal, demolition, reinforced concrete and structural steel works.

I took a 3 month sabbatical to volunteer through Engineers Without Borders with their partner organisation Health Poverty Action in Rwanda. I supported the local staff in the delivery of a sanitation project which consisted of constructing 119 composting toilets in 14 primary schools across a rural district. I developed their existing reporting and planning systems, monitored the quality of the construction works and also analysed and refined the design of the toilets.

Seconded on a design placement with Atkins for one year working in their Tunnelling team. Projects worked on include Manchester Relief Sewer, Victoria Station Upgrade and Sai Ying Pun Station ground freezing project in Hong Kong.

Site Engineer responsible for the safe construction of a new thrust arch bridge which spans the River Thames creating a replacement road crossing. Responsible throughout the project for supervising reinforced concrete substructure and superstructure works, bridge steelwork erection, sheet piling, temporary screw piles, embankment earthworks and highway realignment. The main safety risks which I managed were working over water, working adjacent to a live highway and working at height.

Part of the team responsible for the safe and timely delivery of train platform extension and modernisation works on the live Network Rail and London Underground platforms within a large and complex redevelopment project. Roles included the planning and supervision of reinforced concrete foundations to support a new roof extension, the installation of an extensive underground cable management system, paving resurfacing works and heritage brickwork repairs. Olympic-Standard Canoe Slalom CourseAssisted in the supervision of a broad range of site works including ground works, concrete works, building engineering and bridge pier installation. I was also responsible for collating quality records and undertaking environmental monitoring. The main health and safety risk management was in working adjacent to a water course.

I worked on a variety of projects within the Water Group including a water quality scheme, internal flooding and a water mains rehabilitation scheme. Duties ranged from design calculations and hydraulic modelling to using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and writing reports. I was also involved in a number of Arup’s social committees and helped organise fundraising days, lunchtime presentations and various social events.

A UK based role working with an El Salvador based NGO, REDES to manage the 2008 summer Engineers Without Borders (EWB) placement. This role involved liaising with REDES to scope the proposal, successfully submitting a project proposal to EWB, interviewing and selecting applicants, preparing the selected volunteers for their placement and then supporting the volunteers during their placement.

This placement involved working as part of a small engineering team, within a SalvadoranNGO, overseeing the construction of grey water systems and pit latrines in a rural community.The team coordinated the project from start to finish from selecting the beneficiaries throughto completion of the infrastructure. My role involved supervising the work of local labourerswho were of varied backgrounds and levels of education, all in a working language ofSpanish.
