I teach child psychiatry fellows in annual courses on Systems of Care, Attachment and Adoption, and mentor individually those fellows with interest in public psychiatry. I also developed and co-teach an NYU undergraduate course on structural justice and systems-involved youth.

I led mental health services at the New York Foundling, overseeing psychiatric and mental health services in our five foster care clinics (article 28 and 29i) our community mental health clinic (article 31), and our school-based mental health programs. I led creation and expansion of early childhood mental health services, specialized programs for youth identifying as LGBTQ, culturally competent models of care, telehealth and in-home therapy for foster youth, and secured a SAMHSA/NCTSN category III grant for establishment of the NY Center for Trauma Informed Child Welfare Practice.

I provided leadership and supervision of mental health services in our five foster care clinics across the five boroughs, ensuring high quality clinical care in compliance with foster care regulatory requirements, implementation of evidence-based therapies, and transition to telehealth and 29i clinic licensure.

I served as the Director of New York State’s only specialized child psychiatric emergency room, providing emergency, inpatient and outpatient care to over 2400 youth per year with a team of 63 full-time or part-time staff and over 40 trainees per year. During my tenure as Director, we increased annual patient volume by 51% and consulted nationally on program development in trauma-informed emergency child psychiatry. I led the development of national consensus guidelines for management of agitation, which are being adopted state-wide and proposed for adoption nationally as standard of care for emergency management. I also co-led development of telepsychiatry initiatives in emergency child psychiatry, consult-liason psychiatry, and outpatient parent training programs, for NYULH and Bellevue.
