Wide and varied career so farPost reg nursing experience general & vascular surgery, orthopaedics, coronary care, ITU, ward sister colo-rectal surgery. Research nurse and quality and governance support. Following this I was a nurse specialist in Acute pain management. Other challenges have been my time as National Network lead and 3 years served on local ethics committee. I have lectured locally, regionally and nationally. Further qualifications as a non medical independant prescriber, NLP practitioner and Hypnotist. Published several articles, a reference book, co-authored a chapter, peer reviewed articals and have been an active member of two editorial boards. Clinically I have a broad range of speciality knowledge and role have included Ward Leader, Senior Matron, Nurse Specialist and latterly Nurse Consultant. As nurse consultant I managed my own chronic pain caseload whilst also developing and managing the acute pain service. I have worked hard and have enjoyed all of my jobs to the full, taking the time to engage with the patients and support and develop staff along the way. Three years ago I had an oppertunity to learn more about the business side of the NHS I have grabbed it with both hands and I still learn many new things daily. What a gift to be working in the NHS for 29years and still being able to make a difference whilst continuing to learn and grow.
