I teach KS3 and KS4 Science and KS5 Biology and Applied Science. I have responsibility as second in department which involves resource planning and development, curriculum design and development, leadership and QA. I also lead instructional coaching across the school which involves delivering CPD, analysis of coaching data and management of coaching teams.

The Sanger Institute is a world leader in genome research which works to further scientific understanding of gene function in health and disease. My initial training involved learning how to use a Unix computer system and an extensive array of bespoke analytical software to become a Genome Sequence Analyst.To achieve set quality standards further laboratory techniques were often required. I was responsible for designing techniques to be used, ordering additional sequence generation and implementing the data generated.I worked on a range of projects including sequencing of the Zebrafish genome and chromosome coordinator, finishing the Pig, Human and tomato genome, Babesia bigemina and various other pathogenic bacteria. I fulfilled the role of Project manager for various sequencing projects, including the MetaHIT project which involved During my time at the Sanger Institute I ran training day events for colleagues and produced accompanying reference material. In conjunction with this I worked as a member of the public engagement team, which included providing tours of the Institute to visiting groups, school seminar visits, open days and scientific fairs. I was selected to represent the Institute at the annual Finishing conference in Santa Fe, USA and visit Washington University, St Louis, USA to work with colleagues and share research conclusions.
