• Assist in the quality control of climate data using SQL, GIS, Crystal Reports and MetCap• Create/generate monthly analysis of rainfall maps using GIS.• Perform Data Quality Control activities related to SAWS’ climate/rainfall stations by capturing or correcting data not captured from the regional office using ClimEdit software.• Write reports on findings and monitor station performance.• Assist with the management of climate related documentation within Climate Data.• Maintain service-delivery-related documents including but not limited to MetCap Business Rules and Manual.• Assist in ensuring that all relevant standards and related documents for Climate Data are adhered to and are in operational use. • Where necessary, provide training as and when directed by the supervisor. • Contribute as and when requested to Management feedback sessions with staff.

• Collect data (macro-invertebrates) and water samples from the Groot and Salt River to analyse and determine the rivers’ health.• Collect small alien fish for analyses and monitoring at an estuary as a Protected Area in conjunction with SanParks.• Use environmental laws to conduct research and compile environmental reports.• Participate in baboon management forums.• Organise and participate in community environmental education programs with EPWP.• Participate in the organisation’s bird ringing programs.

• Collect climatic and oceanographic data on cruises and write reports on findings from the cruise. Conduct research on the absorption of atmospheric carbon dioxide by the Southern Ocean (Gough Island Cruise).• Participate in the department's cruises (Southern Ocean, East and West coasts).• Use computer programs (GIS, SmartAtlas, Google Earth, Microsoft software) to simplify data.• Participate in coastal and environmental management awareness events.• Organise and prepare environmental/coastal education events for schools.• Assist in conducting marine, coastal and environmental research.
