The National Council for Persons With Disabilities is a state cooperation established by an Act of Parliament, the Persons With Disabilities Act No.14 of 2003 and set up in November 2004 to promote and protect equalization of opportunities and realization of human rights for PWDs to live decent livelihoods.Responsibilities:• Provision of psychosocial support to PWDs and their families, as well as life skill training on disability management • Actively participated in field visits throughout the country for case assesment pertaining PWDs• Registering and issuing of registration cards to PWDs with the assistance of DSOs.• Engaging in disability awareness projects, campaings and disability mainstreaming through community outreach.• Liaising with Kenya Revenue Authority on all matters of tax exemption for persons with disability. • Liasing with different stakeholders to facilitate all incetives and rights for PWDS through disability mainstreaming.• Answering calls, messages and responding to client’s emails.• Collecting and documenting the right data including potographs, Preparing reports and presentations.• Documentation, filling and updating of records• Giving relevant information support system- directing the PWDs on where they could get the right help. • Any other duties.

Fountain of Hope Treatment Centre (FOHTC) is an affordable and Christian-based rehabilitation center, counselling and wellness center and a general medical center. The organization provides treatment for drug addiction and medical treatment including detoxification and anti-abuse implantation using Naltrexone implants.Key Responsibilities• Client Intake • Comprehensive assessment and diagnosis to asses extend of addiction• Developing individualized psychotherapeutic treatment plan in collaboration with clinical interventions • Facilitating Life skills and Psycho- education training internal sessions• Client behavior assessment, self care assessment with scoring and appropriate intervention• Facilitating Individual and group counselling sessions• Relapse and co-occurrence preventive strategies trainings( triggers, cravings and company)• Psychosocial support ( helping individuals realize their useful skills and talents.

Machakos Level 5 Referral Hospital is a Public level 5 health facility with healthcare professionals focused to delivering quality and timely health care to patients across the country. Having the opportunity to practice my internship at the Mental health/ Psychiatry/ Counselling Department the following were my duties:• Clients Intake • Comprehensive Clinical Assessments, evaluation and Diagnosis • Developing individualized psychotherapeutic treatment plan in collaboration with medical intervention• Facilitating counselling sessions to individuals and groups.• Facilitating Life skills and Psycho education workshop training to groups and institutions• Clinical referrals• Implemented weekly clinical follow-ups to ensure medication adherence.• Working with Community health workers, self help groups and local hospital facilities to facilitate lessons, trainings and learning activities that meet the community health objectives.• Developing programs with integrated well developed curricula and materials for Organizational structures on mental health and psychological safety measures at work place.• Maintained accurate data entry, filling, record and bookkeeping.

Key Responsibilities• Supported in field level data collection. • Mapping of sampled respondents for interviews/survey. • Conducting interviews and surveys among identified households/respondents and taking records in electronic devices. • Administering the informed consent to the respondents. • Double-checking and synchronizing all collected data on a daily basis.
