I led the payroll team and ensuring all Peregrine Corporation employees (approx. 5,000) were paid accurately and on time. Ensuring compliance with all employee-related obligations, statutory payments and industrial instruments was maintained and that the team were up to date with legislation requirements as they changed.I advised on industrial relations matters and remuneration and benefits initiatives and also provided guidance on policy reviews and developing new processes in the changing business world we were navigating. My primary objective was to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of Origin's national payroll, across several pay cycles, using CHRIS 21 for over 5,800 employees, with adherance to the People Services Service Level Agreement (“SLA”), industrial agreements, Origin’s policies and relevant legislation.I was responsible for the leadership and supervision of the Payroll Team of 12-18, including team development, identifying and sourcing training requirements and performance management. Additionally, I was a key contributor to many policy reviews and updates, providing sounds advise and ensuring compliance with industrial instruments.I also ensured that the team was working efficiently, identified improvement opportunities and made recommendations for process improvements. As a part of my role, I analysed performance dashboards, issues registers and data reporting in order to track team performance and identify efficiencies which could be gained from continuous process improvements.I built and maintained strong, collaborative and mutually beneficial relationships with our customers and stakeholders alike and to actively supported change management throughout the transition brought about by our HR Transformation projects, to provide optimisation of our services.

I have a high level of understanding and ability to interpret all relevant legislation, awards and agreements. As part of my role I also communicated legislation changes to the Payroll Services Team, ensuring compliance with statutory legislation and internal controls at all times. I also supported the development and implementation of procedures and process flows for critical actions for the Payroll Services function. I was key to developing both the “Cross-Skilling” and “Lunch and Learn” programs across People Services.My role included the resolution of all escalated payroll issues and support to the People Services team for complex issues. From June 2012 to June 2014, I led a Project Team through several challenging pieces of work, around a business restructure and was responsible for coordinating the People Services (Payroll & HR Admin) side of this project, delivering accuracy in volume work with tight turnarounds and maintaining the teams engagement throughout the projects.

At Baulderstone, I administered the coordination of weekly and monthly payrolls for approx 1,500 employees, using Preceda. I managed all statutory payments, including Payroll Tax, WorkCover and Superannuation and month end procedures, including reconciliation of nominated general ledger accounts. Again, I had to have a good understanding of State Awards, EBA’s, AWA’s and Site Agreements and the ability to communicate them to colleagues and employees. I developed and implemented a procedures manual for both the Payroll Administrator role and Payroll Officer roles within the department. I was also part of the project team to role out the first Organisational Structure at Baulderstone and was responsible for subsequent maintenance of organisational hierarchy.

My first role at BHPB, required me to complete a knowledge transfer and detailed procedural documentation of payroll information from two BHPB sites – GEMCO (Groote Eylandt) and TEMCO (Bell Bay, Tasmania). I was involved in extensive user acceptance testing and parallel runs of GSAP system against expected / required payroll results and successfully implemented both sites onto the GSAP payroll system. My various roles at BHPB ensured that I had an excellent understanding of the operation of all aspects of payroll processing for weekly, fortnightly and monthly pay cycles on different assets, including all BMA sites. I was responsible for training several other team members in all aspects of BHPB payroll operations and procedures (including the SAP system). I supervised up to 8 payroll officers, prioritizing and managing the teams workloads and assisting the Team Leader in the day-to-day running of the team. I was the escalation point for issues resolution and complex queries for the Data Validation Team.
