Housing & Community Development Specialist
CurrentThe Housing Finance and Community Redevelopment Division are responsible for administering the housing programs of both the Housing Finance Authority of Broward County, Florida, and the Broward County Commission. Many of the duties include the following:• Administered and managed various community development programs to include but not limited to HOME, Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Housing Finance Authority (HFA) or other federal funds, State SHIP funds, regulations regarding income and asset verification to complete Income Certifications for applicable housing assistance programs.• Determined applicant eligibility for various housing programs in compliance with federal, state, and local government regulations.• Certified applicant's income and assets; requested, collected, and reviewed, documents, performed in person interviews, and obtain third party income and asset verifications as required. • Evaluated property eligibility through review of property appraiser's data sheet, real estateappraisals, or recorded mortgage/lien documents.• Conducted mortgage pre-qualification interviews including income certification; review realestate sales contracts, appraisals, home inspections and other documents to pre-qualifyclients for a housing program; originated and processed resulting mortgage loans in keeping up with program guidelines.• Prepared grant applications and completed management reports as required.• Planned and conducted conferences and workshops with public and private groups for thepurpose of identifying and finding solutions to problems in community development.• Monitored Home and Ship programs and drafted letters for non-compliance as required• Served as liaison between civic groups, community development workers, the professionalstaff, and County officials in solving community problems.• Coordinated with other County agencies, inspector, contractor, and clients on theprocurement and construction processes.
