I have a health background having trained and registered as a comprehensive nurse in Nelson. After enjoying multiple clinical placements in Wairau, Lower Hutt and Wellington Hospitals, I moved into a practice nurse position at the NZ Outward Bound School. After a two year stint as the nurse, I then trained as an instructor which enabled a contract at the NZ OB school followed by a summer at Hurricane Island Outward Bound School in Maine USA.Further travel, marriage, two children extended my life experiences and as a family we returned to Outward Bound where my husband took on the Director role and I was appointed curriculum and custom design manager. Programme management; strategic planning; service and product design and staff management were skills developed in this setting. The Suter Art Gallery in Nelson was my next employer where I managed fund raising events for the redevelopment of The Suter. A practice manager role followed with Advanced Dental in Nelson. A large busy seven surgery practice with a management responsibility of the staff and the partnership business.Following this, a regional project management role with the Southern Cancer Network enabled advanced development of relationship management skills and the management of large complex projects across the five DHBs in the South Island. This has lead me to my current role as Programme Manager with the Canterbury Clinical Network.
