Reporting to the CEO and Senior Medical Director, responsible for the start up and development of strategic planning for all care management activities within this physician organization and, in FY 2000, for developing more effective partnerships within MedStar (formerly Helix Health) hospitals. Provided leadership and team activity for enterprise-wide case management process improvement (hospital and physician side). Achieved cost savings in excess of $4 million dollars / year in hospital utilization through strategic utilization measures. Assured readiness for managing global risk contracts, with activities as diverse as Utilization Management, Case Management, Personal Health Coordination, specialized Disease Management and Population Based programs, Outreach Services and Outcomes Management. Accountable for the results of State and payor partner audits/reviews of effectiveness and readiness to provide care management by this division, including the implementation of NCQA guidelines. Responsible for the initial and ongoing development and implementation of MaxsysII MC, a patient-centric care management software system as well as the integration of other information system solutions to manage care. Additional areas of responsibility include Ask a Nurse, IT services, Member Services, Quality Management and Risk Management. The global risk membership of 100,000 covered lives included Medicare, Medicaid and Commercial members. Direct reports include 4 Directors, and a staff of 100 nurses, social workers and clinical support staff.
