At Humankind, I had the opportunity to develop a range of key skills that have proven invaluable in my career. One of the key skills I developed during this time is the ability to connect with people from diverse backgrounds. Whether it was engaging with individuals experiencing homelessness, addiction, or mental health issues, I learned how to approach each individual with empathy and understanding. This skill has proven to be invaluable in my career as a community & events manager, where I am responsible for creating events and communities that are inclusive and welcoming to all.In addition to my empathy and connection skills, I also developed resilience during my time at Humankind. Working in a challenging environment can be emotionally and mentally taxing, but I learned how to maintain a positive attitude and stay motivated despite the challenges I faced. This resilience has served me well in my career, where I often encounter unexpected challenges that require quick thinking and problem-solving.Furthermore, my role at Humankind allowed me to develop excellent communication and collaboration skills. In order to provide the best possible support to individuals, I had to work closely with other team members and external stakeholders. As a group leader at Laser Summer Camps, I had the opportunity to develop my professional skills in various areas. Leading a group of campers required me to hone my communication, organization, and leadership skills. I also gained experience in problem-solving, conflict resolution, and teamwork, as I worked with other counselors and staff members to create a safe and enjoyable environment for our campers. Additionally, I learned how to adapt to different learning styles and personalities, which helped me become a more effective educator and mentor.
